History Cleaner 1.0.0 (“Quickly erase all necessary data in your Google Chrome”) is a browser extension offered on Chrome Web Store and on historycleaner.net website. You may agree to install this extension after encountering an ad for it, or it may get installed on its own, by bundling with free software you can get from the Internet. History Cleaner may cause advertising pop-ups on your browser and redirect your searches from your default search engine to search.yahoo.com. History Cleaner is not easily uninstalled; it changes your Windows Group Policy to make itself “installed by enterprise policy”. How to Remove History Cleaner

Before uninstalling History Cleaner you need to delete Group Policy files that mark it as “Installed by enterprise policy”.
Note: Do this only on your own home computer. If your computer at work is infected, contact IT personnel instead.

1. Open %WINDIR%\System32\GroupPolicy folder (just copy that path and paste into the address bar of Windows Explorer; otherwise you will have to show hidden items to find this folder). Delete the contents of the folder.

Remove History Cleaner From Programs and Features:

Remove History Cleaner From Browsers:

Remove History Cleaner 1.0.0 (ID: lcegkhchfikjgfochhmfmoadegikmfaa) and any other suspicious extensions from browsers. If the problem persists, reset browser settings.

1. Click on three dots menu button (three bars in older versions of Chrome).

Note: This will remove most of your saved browser data, including extensions, passwords and the majority of browser settings.

1. Click Tools button in the top-right corner.
2. Select Internet options.
3. Go to Advanced tab.
4. Click Reset… button.
5. Put checkmark in Delete personal settings checkbox.
6. Click Reset.

Remove History Cleaner extension from Opera:

1. Press Ctrl +Shift + E keys to open extensions manager.

• Adjust your browsers’ settings to block pop-ups and to load plug-ins only when clicked.
